Metal shielded deep groove ball bearings are very commonly used bearings and are made with metal dust shields inserted into the outer race and fitting closely to the inner race. The metal shields protect against dust, foreign matter and are also a protection against the grease in the bearing which offers lubrication for the life of the bearing.
